Created by the famous French occultist Etteilla (Jean-Baptiste Alliette), the Grand Etteilla features tarot card meanings on the cards themselves, a new innovation at the time.
Ettiella was the first person to popularise tarot divination to a wide audience. He published his ideas of the correspondences between the tarot, astrology, and the four classical elements and four humours, and was the first to issue a revised tarot deck specifically designed for occult purposes.
